This weekend I was in Bulgaria due to my 1 year anniversary with my girlfriend, who’s from Bulgaria. We went to a mountain resort, which is cheaper than Sofia (in the low season). On the day we arrived everything was green, but this Saturday the world turned white. I love it. I notice I feel quite at home in Bulgaria, and especially Sofia.
Will write more about my stay there in the days to come. Have to find my way back to Istanbul in this snowy mess. You can stay up to date by following my Twitter feed, or subscribe to this blog byΒ RSS orΒ email.
I’m hoping for some nice snow in Istanbul this winter. Has it snowed where you are yet? Will it at all?

I don’t think so.
I think my template’s poorly coded. I’m thinking of switching soon.
It will snow sooner or later. It has already snowed all over London, just not in my actual suburb.

Welcome back home to Bulgaria – snow yes, but still everything continues as normal, just a little slower than the slow normal though.
Petchka burning away, a rakia in one hand, a salad in the other and to top it all a beautiful Bulgaria woman – what else on earth could you ever wish for?

nice pic! it’s either rain or shine in my country…
It snowed exactly the same weekend here in Romania. On Friday clean, and in one day, 20 cm of snow. One question: how do you feel at home in Bulgaria? Are you post-modernist at that point?
Nope. At that point I’m a gypsy. (this joke is only intended for my Romanian audience)
The answer for the audience in other places, my answer is:
In Bulgaria they have a saying about their country… “hey, it’s not the best place in the world, but at least it’s not Romania”.
There. That’s how you piss off people from two countries while trying to please ’em both. Hatemail can be sent to hate [at] basbasbas [dot] com.
I see you did your homework.
Anyway, here there are two categories: the pessimistic say “even in Bulgaria they fare better”, while the optimistic show their concern – “the poor thing, they are so miserable in Bulgaria, even worse than us”. Both Ro and Bg have backup though: the out of question Albania.
