I took this picture during my trip to Veliko Turnovo, Bulgaria. I was having dinner on a terrace and this stray dog kept begging people for food, shoving its head through the fence and putting it on people’s tables. First time I really saw a stray dog like that, but during my five month stay in Bulgaria I saw many. It was also featured as photo of the day on the website of Radio Bulgaria (the international service of the Bulgarian National Radio).

Beautiful, and haunting at the same time! Thanks so much for having stopped by earlier π
I love your photo – the color, the look on the dog’s face, it tells a story without words. You have a good eye, keep up the good work.

Gypsy at Heart is right – your photo tells a story but it has many intriguing unanswered questions. Will the dog get enough to eat? Will he have shelter at the end of the day? Does anyone even care about the poor beast? Excellent photo!

i heard somewhere that a measure of how civilized a nation is is how it treats its prisoners. maybe we should include also how it treats animals… beautiful photo, poignant and real.
thanks for visiting my site as well =]

Beautiful photo but sad. Blessings to stray animals everywhere.
Hi I added my link. thanks I will do the same for you…
regarding the post I pity the dog, wonder if it doesn’t have an owner. do they have dog pound in Bulgaria? You know I really love dogs and it hurts my heart every time I see dogs suffer from things like that!
Poor sweet doggie!

@Chie: There are dog pounds, but not enough to take care of all the dogs. There’s so many of ’em. It’s a shame, but it’s the way it is.
I’d have to agree with everyone else, the color is overwhelmingly beautiful.
I’m always amazed at the number of stray dogs there are over there. In the US you’d never see a stray dog.

It always break my heart to see a stray dog beg for food.
Your photo has very lively colors. Very happy colors. Quite the opposite of what the stray dog represents.
It’s just my humble opinion.
