Thanks Ben. Anyway, what caused the problem was not the loading of the website, but some SQL queries originating from some plugin that uses tags, my guess is a Related Posts plugin.

I have a lot of bandwidth per month and Bluehost's servers are good, so there shouldn't be a problem with traffic. I've been SlashDotted before and everything was fine.

As for the CMS comment... Even Wordpress or Blogger are content management systems in my eyes... Of course I'll take it easy... Like I said, I'm not a web developer, so I don't want to make it too complicated on myself.

Atniz: oh, I have a lot to say about recent issues with Bluehost. This is not the only issue I've had with them. Considering sending Wordpress an email to stop recommending them.

Not only will I do my best to keep Top Commenters showing... I will also reactivate CommentLuv, as it was causing problems with this template.

Martin: and what a strange time to be coming to Bulgaria. ;-)

@7 Ben Barden.

Well that depends on the CMS, your blog and of your definition of CMS... :smile:

Sorry for the double comment - I just noticed something. You say you already use the caching plugins mentioned - which ones? I checked the source of your site and it has no mention of SuperCache, which is the best plugin for this kind of stuff - if it's installed, it's not working properly. View the source of my blog and scroll to the very bottom and you'll see it mentions the page was generated via WP-SuperCache in however many seconds. That's not on your blog.

The Super-Cache plugin would make the most sense for you. Although to be honest, so would a move to Hostgator. A CMS is probably overkill for a blog.

Certainly ,this is bad reputation for bluehost. Wish you all the best with your new theme. My only wish is that you will keep the Top Commentators widget on.

Thanks for the tips. I'm not really a web developer, so it might be hard to achieve all this, but we'll see.

Drupal or an open source CMS seems the way to go right now, yeah.

I do use the caching plugins mentioned, but they don't help <i>that</i> much.

The <a href="http://www.slideshare.net/stubbornella/designing-fast-websites-presentation" rel="nofollow">Yahoo Speed guidelines</a> are also really good, although a bit technical.

Yup, that may be a good idea. I made my own site extremely simple partly for the same reason, too. Definitely caching makes all the difference, anyway!
